Mason High School senior Katie Rojas was recognized as The Kiwanis Club of Mason's November Student of the Month. Rojas was nominated by Barb Shuba, National Honor Society advisor.
Rojas is MHS’s National Honor Society president, a writer for the school newspaper, the Chronicle, and organizer of this year’s incredible fundraiser to support MHS freshman Aidan Glass, Knockout Cancer.
“While we already have a large number of projects that help others, Katie was responsible for a magical day that our students and community will never forget – the Knockout Cancer for Aidan Project. She wanted to find something that would bring our school together, and she could not have done a better job!” said Shuba.
A dedicated student, Rojas is interested in pursuing chemical or biomedical engineering at The Ohio State University, the University of Michigan, or Washington University.
On November 21, the Kiwanis Club presented Rojas with $50 and a certificate commemorating her achievement. Her mom, Barbara, Shuba, and assistant principal Dan Distel joined the Kiwanians in recognizing her accomplishments. The Mason Kiwanis Club meets weekly at noon at the Houston Restaurant in Mason.
