Pageant Queen and Cupcakes raise funds for Heart Association on Aug. 19

SugarPlums CupCakery in Mason will donate proceeds from its Aug. 19 bakery sales and orders to the American Heart Association, said owner Patty Hanika.
The charitable sales are a send-off for Hanika’s granddaughter, Mikayla Colwell of Anderson Township, who is the 2013 National American Miss (NAM) Jr. Teen Ohio. Colwell, who is a student at Turpin High School, will represent Ohio in the National NAM competition in California over the Thanksgiving weekend.
Colwell has helped her grandmother in at the bakery for years, so SugarPlums CupCakery is the perfect venue to help Colwell raise funds for her favorite charity, said Hanika.
Colwell has organized a team to participate in the American Heart Association Walk/Run in September, and the bakery sales proceeds will be part of the pledges and sponsorships that Colwell’s team, “Crowning Hearts” will present to the Heart Association.
SugarPlums CupCakery is at 6209 Snider Rd., between Tylersville and SR 42 in Mason. All sales proceeds between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, will go to the Crowning Hearts fund raiser for the American Heart Association.
