Little Miami offering Washington trip to eighth graders

Little Miami Junior High eighth graders may opt to go on a class trip to Washington D.C. next spring.

It’s something not available since the board eliminated district-sponsored field trips more than four years ago in a cost-cutting measure.

“We work hard to give our students a vivid experience when we learn about our nation’s government and our history in class, but it will be so much more meaningful to be able to actually see the places that we talk about,’’ said Principal Ryan Cherry.

“For some of our students this may be the only time they will ever get to visit Washington D.C.

The trip will take place May 21-24, 2014 and will cost about $500 per student. Some of the cost can be reduced by families participating in fundraisers.

Little Miami Schools staff members will serve as chaperones along with a school nurse and a school resource officer.
